VA-95 Sky Knights — from Flaming Dart to Rolling Thunder, the Sky Knights brought the fight to North Vietnam when the campaign was just getting started.

VA-95, the “Sky Knights” (later renamed “Green Lizards”), was established on March 26, 1952, and served until April 1, 1970. The squadron carried the Sky Knights nickname from 1957 to 1963 before adopting the Green Lizards name. VA-95 participated in early Vietnam War combat operations including Operation Flaming Dart in February 1965, retaliatory strikes ordered by the President after the Viet Cong attack on Camp Holloway at Pleiku. The squadron also participated in Flaming Dart II strikes against military barracks near Dong Hoi, North Vietnam, and Rolling Thunder operations. VA-95 deployed as part of the first all-attack air wing to Vietnam in April 1966. The squadron also responded to the 1969 Libyan coup while deployed aboard USS John F. Kennedy in the Mediterranean.
