Description
**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-94 Mighty Shrikes Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VA-94 Mighty Shrikes — named after a bird that impales its prey on thorns. The Shrikes impaled the Iranian frigate Sahand during Praying Mantis. Same energy.
VA-94, the “Mighty Shrikes,” was established as Fighter Squadron VF-94 on March 26, 1952, at NAS Alameda, California. Redesignated as an attack squadron in 1958, the Shrikes flew A-4 Skyhawks through seven consecutive Vietnam combat deployments, then transitioned to the A-7 Corsair II. VA-94 led the first major Navy bombing strikes into North Vietnam after the 1968 bombing halt and participated in the mining of Haiphong Harbor. In 1975, the Shrikes participated in Operation Frequent Wind — the evacuation of Saigon — and the SS Mayaguez recovery. In 1986, VA-94 made history aboard USS Enterprise as part of the first nuclear carrier to transit the Suez Canal. In April 1988, the squadron struck the Iranian frigate Sahand during Operation Praying Mantis, the first major U.S. naval battle since WWII. Now VFA-94, the Mighty Shrikes continue serving today.
