VF-126 “Fighting Seahawks” was a U.S. Navy Fighter Squadron that served in the adversary role, providing dissimilar air combat training (DACT) to fleet fighter squadrons. Based at NAS Miramar, California, VF-126 flew a variety of aircraft in the adversary mission, simulating enemy tactics and aircraft capabilities to sharpen the skills of Navy and Marine Corps fighter pilots before they deployed. Adversary squadrons are the “bad guys” of naval aviation — the aggressor pilots who study enemy tactics, fly their aircraft to the limits, and push fleet aviators to be better every single day. VF-126’s Fighting Seahawks legacy lives on in every fleet fighter pilot who trained against them and came out sharper, more lethal, and better prepared for the real thing.
