**Officially Licensed US Navy VA(AW)-33/VAQ-33 Night Hawks Sticker — All-Weather Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VA(AW)-33 Night Hawks — the squadron that evolved from hunting submarines with Avengers to jamming radars with Skywarriors. They were the last unit in the Navy to fly the legendary A-1 Skyraider, and they made that final Spad carrier launch count.
The lineage of Squadrons Thirty-Three began with VC-33, commissioned in January 1943 at NAS Alameda, flying F4F Wildcats and TBF Avengers in Pacific battles from baby flat-tops. Re-established on 31 May 1949 at NAS Norfolk, the new VC-33 flew TBM Avengers on ASW missions, then shifted to night attack at NAS Atlantic City. The squadron sent three detachments to the Korean War aboard carriers, distinguishing itself in night attack and ECM missions. In 1952, VC-33 adopted the “Nighthawks” nickname, and in 1956 was redesignated All-Weather Attack Squadron VA(AW)-33. Following another redesignation to VAW-33, then VAQ-33 in 1968, the squadron became the Navy’s pioneering electronic aggressor unit, simulating threats to the fleet with ERA-3B Skywarriors, EA-4F Skyhawks, and EF-4 Phantoms. VAQ-33 served 44 continuous years before its disestablishment at NAS Key West on 1 October 1993.
