**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-82/VFA-82 Marauders Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VA-82 Marauders — the squadron that helped destroy the “indestructible” Thanh Hoa Bridge. Four A-7Cs, 16,000 pounds of high explosives, and the centre piling cracked in half. Target permanently removed from the list.
VA-82, the “Marauders,” was established on 1 May 1967 at NAS Cecil Field as a light attack squadron flying the Vought A-7A Corsair II. Created alongside sister squadron VA-86 (Sidewinders) from training squadron VA-174, the Marauders were among the first East Coast squadrons to take the A-7A into combat. Their first deployment aboard USS America took them to the waters off North Vietnam in April 1968. On a subsequent cruise, VA-82’s A-7Cs delivered the decisive blows that destroyed the Thanh Hoa Bridge, a critical North Vietnamese supply link that had resisted years of bombing. The squadron made multiple Mediterranean deployments through the 1970s, earning the Wade McClusky Award as most outstanding attack squadron and the Battle “E” in 1976. After transitioning to the F/A-18C Hornet in 1987 as VFA-82, the Marauders became the first F/A-18C squadron to deploy at sea, pioneered Hornet air-to-ground tactics, and participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The squadron was disestablished on 30 September 2005.
