Description
**Officially Licensed US Navy VF-143 / VFA-143 Pukin Dogs Sticker — Fighter Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VF-143 Pukin’ Dogs — the squadron with the most irreverent name in naval aviation and the combat record to back it up. That winged griffin isn’t smiling — and neither were the MiGs.
VF-143, the “Pukin’ Dogs,” was established on 18 June 1954 at NAS Miramar, California. The squadron’s unusual nickname derives from its insignia, a winged griffin that early squadron members thought looked like a dog getting sick. VF-143 flew the F-4 Phantom II during the Vietnam War, deploying multiple times aboard USS Constellation and USS Enterprise. The squadron scored aerial victories during the conflict, cementing its reputation as an elite fleet fighter unit. In 1974, VF-143 transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat, operating from carriers including USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and USS John F. Kennedy as part of CVW-7. The Pukin’ Dogs were redesignated VFA-143 on 2 February 2005 and transitioned to the F/A-18E Super Hornet. VFA-143 remains active today, continuing the proud and distinctively named legacy from NAS Oceana, Virginia.
