Description
**Officially Licensed USMC A-6 Intruder Sticker — Marine Corps Aircraft Vinyl Sticker**
The A-6 Intruder — the all-weather, day-or-night medium attack bomber that could find targets in soup so thick you couldn’t see your own wingtip. When the weather was too ugly for everyone else to fly, the Intruder crews strapped in and went to work.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was a twin-engine, mid-wing attack aircraft that served as the backbone of carrier-based and Marine Corps all-weather strike capability from the early 1960s through the 1990s. First entering service in 1963, the A-6 was specifically designed for low-level, all-weather attack missions using its revolutionary Digital Integrated Attack Navigation Equipment (DIANE) system — allowing the two-person crew of pilot and bombardier/navigator to locate and strike targets in conditions that grounded every other tactical aircraft. Marine A-6 squadrons including VMA(AW)-121, VMA(AW)-224, VMA(AW)-242, VMA(AW)-332, and VMA(AW)-533 flew the Intruder with devastating effectiveness in Vietnam, delivering precision ordnance in monsoon conditions that kept other aircraft on the ground. The A-6E variant added laser designation capability for precision-guided munitions, and Marine Intruder squadrons continued to serve through Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The A-6 was retired from Marine service in the 1990s, replaced by the F/A-18 Hornet, but its legend as the ultimate bad-weather bomber lives on.
