Description

Officially Licensed USMC VMF(AW)-235 DeathAngels Sticker — Crusaders from Da Nang to Eternity

The Death Angels flew Dauntlesses, Corsairs, Panthers, Furies, Crusaders, Phantoms, and Hornets. Name a more versatile squadron.

VMF(AW)-235 “Death Angels” is one of the most storied squadrons in Marine Corps aviation history. Commissioned in 1943 as VMSB-235, the squadron flew SBD Dauntless dive bombers during WWII in the Pacific, participating in Operation Cartwheel and the Battle of Bougainville. Reactivated in 1950 with F4U Corsairs, they transitioned through F9F Panthers, FJ Furies, and then the legendary F-8 Crusader — deploying to Vietnam in 1966 where they flew over 6,000 combat sorties from Da Nang. They were the Marine Corps’ last active duty Crusader squadron. Later redesignated VMFA-235, they flew F-4 Phantoms and eventually F/A-18 Hornets, deploying as the first fighter squadron in theater for Operation Desert Shield. The Death Angels were decommissioned in 1996 after more than five decades of service across three wars.

Perfect For: VMF(AW)-235 and VMFA-235 Death Angels veterans, F-8 Crusader community, Vietnam War aviation veterans, Desert Storm Marines, Marine Corps aviation history collectors, and anyone who respects a squadron that fought in every major conflict of the 20th century.

Death Angels — from Bougainville to Baghdad, legends never really die.
