Officially Licensed USMC VMAT-203 Skyhawks Sticker — The Original Hawk Trainers
Before the Harrier, there was the Skyhawk. And the Hawks taught them both.
VMAT-203 “Hawks” was a Marine Attack Training Squadron based at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, under MAG-14 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron’s lineage dates back to 1947 as VMT-1, originally training pilots on the TF-9J Cougar and T-33 Shooting Star. In 1967, the squadron received its first A-4 Skyhawk and began its evolution as a light attack training unit. Redesignated VMAT-203 in 1972, the Hawks trained replacement aircrews in the A-4M and TA-4J Skyhawk before transitioning to V/STOL aviation — becoming the Marine Corps’ AV-8 Harrier training squadron. This sticker captures the VMAT-203 Skyhawk era, when the nimble A-4 was the backbone of Marine light attack aviation and the Hawks were churning out the pilots who would take the fight to the enemy. VMAT-203 was decommissioned on October 29, 2021, after decades of training Harrier pilots.
Perfect For: VMAT-203 Hawks Marines and veterans, A-4 Skyhawk community, AV-8B Harrier training alumni, MCAS Cherry Point squadrons, MAG-14 and 2nd MAW personnel, and Marine Corps aviation training history collectors.
