Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 120 (VAW-120) “Greyhawks” is the United States Navy’s Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) for the E-2 Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft and the C-2A Greyhound carrier onboard delivery aircraft. Based at NAS Norfolk, Virginia, VAW-120 trains every E-2 Hawkeye and C-2A Greyhound crew member before they join a fleet squadron, making the Greyhawks the birthplace of the AEW and COD communities.

The “Committed to Excellence” motto on this shoulder patch reflects VAW-120’s unwavering standard of training quality. The Greyhawks’ instructor cadre takes freshly winged naval aviators and naval flight officers and transforms them into combat-ready Hawkeye and Greyhound crew members through a rigorous training syllabus that covers every aspect of airborne early warning operations, carrier onboard delivery, and carrier qualification. VAW-120 has also begun training crews for the CMV-22B Osprey and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye variants, ensuring the community stays at the cutting edge of capability.
