USS Lexington CV-16 Sticker — The Blue Ghost Lives On

The Japanese reported her sunk so many times they called her the Blue Ghost — but Lexington just kept coming back.

USS Lexington (CV-16) was an Essex-class aircraft carrier that earned the legendary nickname “The Blue Ghost” during World War II because the Japanese falsely reported her sunk on multiple occasions. Commissioned in 1943, CV-16 fought in nearly every major Pacific campaign from Tarawa to Okinawa, earning the Presidential Unit Citation and eleven battle stars. After the war, Lexington served as a training carrier for decades, introducing generations of naval aviators to the art of carrier landings. Today, CV-16 is preserved as a museum ship in Corpus Christi, Texas, where visitors can walk her decks and experience carrier life firsthand.

Perfect For: USS Lexington veterans, WWII Pacific theater historians, museum ship visitors, Essex-class enthusiasts, and naval heritage sticker collectors.

The Blue Ghost — unsinkable in spirit.
