Description
VMM-166 Seaelks Sunset Patch — The Final Chapter
This is the last patch the Seaelks ever made. Let that sink in.
VMM-166 “Seaelks” was a Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron that flew the MV-22 Osprey out of MCAS Miramar, California, under MAG-16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. This sunset patch was the final patch created for the Seaelks before their deactivation — a fitting farewell to a squadron that spent decades serving the MAGTF. The Seaelks’ lineage traces back through the era of CH-46 Sea Knight operations, and when the Marine Corps transitioned to the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor, VMM-166 made the jump and continued deploying in support of Marine Expeditionary Units and contingency operations across the globe. Deactivation patches are some of the most collectible items in the military patch world — they represent the end of a unit’s story, the final formation, the last colors cased. This is that patch.
Perfect For: VMM-166 Seaelks Marines and veterans, MV-22 Osprey community, MCAS Miramar squadrons, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW personnel, deactivation patch collectors, and anyone who was there for the last sunset.
