8th Motor Transport Battalion “Road Warriors” is a Fleet Marine Force motor transport unit responsible for providing tactical motor transport support to Marine Corps ground forces. Motor T Marines are the backbone of Marine logistics — they drive the 7-tons, LVSRs, and MATVs that move troops, ammunition, supplies, and equipment from ship to shore and from rear echelon to the front lines. It’s one of the most dangerous and least glamorous jobs in the Corps — convoy operations in Iraq and Afghanistan put Motor T Marines directly in the path of IEDs, ambushes, and enemy fire on a daily basis. The “Road Warriors” nickname captures the gritty reality of Marines who spend their deployments behind the wheel, running convoys through hostile territory to keep the fighting units supplied and in the fight. This patch honors every Motor T Marine who ever white-knuckled a steering wheel through a kill zone.
