This Pop-A-Smoke patch honors Marine helicopter aircrew who served during operations in Haiti. Marine rotary-wing units deployed to Haiti multiple times, including Operation Uphold Democracy in 1994 and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief operations following devastating earthquakes and hurricanes. Marine helicopter crews provided critical airlift, evacuation, and supply delivery in a country where ground infrastructure was often destroyed or nonexistent. Haiti operations showcased the humanitarian side of Marine helicopter capability.
