Official HMH-366 Hammerheads HMH-USA Patches — Heavy Lift with a Heavy Reputation

The Hammerheads brought the heavy metal, and then Force Design 2030 brought the curtain.

HMH-366 “Hammerheads” was a Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron that flew the CH-53E Super Stallion out of MCAS New River, North Carolina, under MAG-29 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. Originally activated in 1994 at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii — where the “Hammerhead” callsign was inspired by Kaneohe Bay’s famous hammerhead shark population — the squadron was deactivated in 2000, then recommissioned in 2008 as part of the Marine Corps’ expansion of heavy-lift capability. Flying the mighty Super Stallion, HMH-366 deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and provided assault support transport of combat troops, supplies, and equipment wherever the MAGTF needed them. The squadron was decommissioned on December 16, 2022, as part of Force Design 2030’s divestment of heavy helicopter squadrons. This patch preserves the Hammerheads’ legacy.

Perfect For: HMH-366 Hammerheads Marines and veterans, CH-53E Super Stallion community, MCAS New River squadrons, MAG-29 and 2nd MAW personnel, heavy lift helicopter Marines, and anyone who remembers the sound of a 53 overhead.

HMH-366 Hammerheads — decommissioned, never forgotten.
