VA-115 Eagles — forward-deployed attack aviators who called Japan home while punching above their weight from the Korean War through Desert Storm.

VA-115, the “Eagles,” was one of the U.S. Navy’s premier Pacific Fleet attack squadrons. Based at NAS Cubi Point in the Philippines and later NAF Atsugi, Japan, as part of the forward-deployed Carrier Air Wing Five, the Eagles flew A-1 Skyraiders, A-6 Intruders, and operated from carriers including USS Midway and USS Kitty Hawk. The squadron saw extensive combat in Vietnam, flying strike missions against targets in North and South Vietnam from Yankee Station. As one of the few permanently forward-deployed attack squadrons, VA-115 maintained a constant state of combat readiness in the Western Pacific, responding to crises across the region. The Eagles were eventually redesignated VFA-115 and transitioned to the F/A-18E Super Hornet.
