Description
Officially Licensed US Navy USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 Patch — The Gold Eagle Carrier
CVN-70 has been projecting American power for over four decades — and she’s nowhere close to done.
USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier commissioned in 1982, named after the long-serving Georgia congressman who was instrumental in building the modern American Navy. Carl Vinson has participated in virtually every major U.S. naval operation since her commissioning, from Operation Desert Strike to Operation Enduring Freedom. She notably hosted the first college basketball game ever played on an aircraft carrier and served as the platform from which Osama bin Laden was buried at sea. Homeported in San Diego, CVN-70 continues to serve as one of the Navy’s most capable and storied capital ships.
Perfect For: CVN-70 crew members and veterans, carrier aviation enthusiasts, Pacific Fleet sailors, naval history buffs, and ship patch collectors.
