VA-303 participated actively in fleet exercises and maintained combat readiness alongside active-duty squadrons. The Golden Hawks saw action during Desert Storm in 1991, when Naval Air Reserve squadrons were called up to support combat operations in the Persian Gulf — a testament to the proficiency and readiness that reserve attack units maintained.
