Description
Officially Licensed 2d LAR Bn Sticker — First to Fight on Eight Wheels
Fast, lethal, and always out front. That’s the LAR way.
2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion is one of the Marine Corps’ premier ground combat units, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina under the 2nd Marine Division and II Marine Expeditionary Force. Activated in May 1985 as the first Light Armored Vehicle unit in the Marine Corps, 2d LAR operates the LAV-25 — an 8-wheeled armored reconnaissance vehicle designed for speed, mobility, and finding the enemy before the main body arrives. During Desert Storm, 2d LAR operated almost continuously under antitank, rocket, and indirect fire, engaging enemy forces on at least 17 occasions and destroying 12 enemy tanks while accounting for numerous enemy KIA and 120 prisoners. In late 2001, 2d LAR landed at Camp Rhino in Afghanistan and helped assault and capture Kandahar International Airport. During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, all three active-duty LAR battalions deployed, with 2d LAR accompanying regimental combat teams into the fight. The battalion continued combat deployments through multiple rotations in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province, conducting independent operations along the Syrian border.
Perfect For: 2d LAR Battalion Marines and veterans, LAV-25 crews and scouts, 2nd Marine Division personnel, Camp Lejeune Marines, and anyone who knows that recon by fire is a perfectly valid technique.
