The squadron deployed multiple times to the Western Pacific during the Vietnam War, conducting precision strikes against heavily defended targets in North Vietnam and flying close air support missions in South Vietnam. The Knight Riders operated from multiple carriers as part of Pacific Fleet carrier air wings, building a distinguished combat record in Southeast Asia before continuing Cold War deployments through the 1980s and 1990s.
