Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 364 (VMM-364) — the ‘Purple Foxes’ — flies the MV-22B Osprey from MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, under MAG-39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Purple Foxes trace their heritage to the Vietnam War, when they flew the CH-46 Sea Knight in some of the most intense combat helicopter operations of the conflict. Today, as an MV-22 tiltrotor squadron, VMM-364 deploys with Marine Expeditionary Units and provides assault transport across the Indo-Pacific and beyond. These flightline qualification patches represent the Marines who have completed the rigorous training and testing required to work on the VMM-364 flight line. Flightline quals are not given — they are earned through demonstrated competence in aircraft maintenance, safety procedures, ordnance handling, or flight crew operations. Each qualification level — from basic flightline access to final checker and collateral duty quality assurance representative — requires progressively more knowledge and responsibility.
