VMFAT-501 Warlords Lightning II Shoulder Patch — Where Lightning Pilots Are Made
You don’t just climb into a fifth-gen fighter. You earn it.
VMFAT-501 “Warlords” is the Marine Corps’ F-35B Lightning II Fleet Replacement Squadron based at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, under MAG-31 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Warlords are responsible for training every Marine F-35B pilot before they report to operational squadrons — making VMFAT-501 the single gateway to the most advanced short takeoff and vertical landing fighter in the world. The F-35B Lightning II combines stealth, sensor fusion, electronic warfare, and vertical landing capability into one platform that has fundamentally changed how the Marine Corps projects airpower from amphibious ships and expeditionary airfields. Every Marine F-35B pilot currently in the fleet passed through the Warlords’ syllabus, learning to master the aircraft’s systems, tactics, and operational employment. This shoulder patch represents the Lightning community’s schoolhouse — where future fighter pilots become Warlords.
Perfect For: VMFAT-501 Warlords instructors and students, F-35B Lightning II community, MCAS Beaufort squadrons, MAG-31 and 2nd MAW personnel, and anyone transitioning to or training on the most advanced STOVL fighter ever built.
VMFAT-501 — forging Warlords, one Lightning at a time.
