HMM-261 “Raging Bulls” was a Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron that flew the CH-46E Sea Knight out of MCAS New River, North Carolina, before transitioning to the MV-22B Osprey and being redesignated as VMM-261. This throwback patch features the classic 1980s-era tan and blue colorway with the iconic bull sporting green eyes — a beloved design from a time when the Phrog was the backbone of Marine assault support. The Raging Bulls’ lineage dates back to 1951, and the squadron has deployed across the globe in support of operations from Vietnam through Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and multiple MEU deployments with the 22nd and 24th Marine Expeditionary Units. The CH-46 Sea Knight served the Marine Corps faithfully for over five decades, and patches like this one are a tribute to the Marines who kept those twin-rotor workhorses flying in every climate and combat zone imaginable.
