Description

Official VAQ-139 Cougars Command Flag Patch — Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum

If you want peace, prepare for electronic war.

VAQ-139 “Cougars” is an Electronic Attack Squadron flying the EA-18G Growler out of NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. Established on July 1, 1983, the Cougars specialize in electromagnetic attack — jamming enemy radar, disrupting communications, and providing electronic warfare support to strike packages and ground forces. The Cougars flew the EA-6B Prowler for nearly three decades before transitioning to the Growler, and in September 2013 conducted the first successful live fire of the AIM-120 AMRAAM from an EA-18G. During their deployment with CVW-17 aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt, the Cougars supported Operation Inherent Resolve on what became the longest carrier deployment since Vietnam, providing over 75% of all Airborne Electronic Attack support in theater. The Cougars also led humanitarian relief efforts during Typhoon Fengshen in the Philippines and Operation Tomodachi after Japan’s 2011 earthquake. This command flag patch carries the authority of the squadron’s leadership.

Perfect For: VAQ-139 Cougars aircrew and maintainers, EA-18G Growler community, NAS Whidbey Island squadrons, CVW-17 veterans, and anyone who understands that controlling the electromagnetic spectrum is half the battle.

VAQ-139 — the Cougars own the spectrum.
