Officially Licensed US Navy HT-28 Hellions Squadron Sticker — Get Lucky, Get Wings
The Hellions turn unruly students into military aviators. It’s kind of their thing.
HT-28 “Hellions” is a Helicopter Training Squadron based at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Florida, as part of Training Air Wing Five. Established on May 25, 2007, the Hellions are one of three advanced helicopter training squadrons responsible for producing rotary-wing aviators for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, as well as allied nations. The squadron’s name is an allusion to the word “helicopter” and a nod to WWII Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-218, which originally held the Hellions nickname. HT-28 flies the TH-73A Thrasher (transitioning from the TH-57 SeaRanger) and also conducts a shortened helicopter syllabus for prospective MV-22 Osprey pilots. The squadron’s call sign is “Lucky” — and you’d better be both lucky and good to earn your Wings of Gold here. Every Navy helicopter pilot, Marine tiltrotor pilot, and Coast Guard rotor-head in the fleet today passed through Whiting Field.
Perfect For: HT-28 Hellions alumni and instructors, NAS Whiting Field squadrons, Training Air Wing Five personnel, helicopter and tiltrotor pilots, student naval aviators in the rotary-wing pipeline, and anyone who earned their wings at South Whiting.
