Description
Officially Licensed USMC Weapons & Tactics Instructor WTI Shoulder Patches — The Patch You Earn in Yuma
Seven weeks of Yuma heat, zero room for error. Welcome to WTI.
The Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course is the Marine Corps’ premier advanced aviation training program, hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) at MCAS Yuma, Arizona. Commissioned on June 1, 1978, MAWTS-1 runs WTI twice a year — a grueling seven-week evolution that integrates advanced air and ground tactics through escalating exercises to produce certified Weapons and Tactics Instructors. WTI graduates become their squadron’s go-to subject matter experts on aircraft, weapons employment, and tactical planning, producing over 300 graduates annually. The course draws candidates from every Marine aviation community — fixed-wing, rotary, tiltrotor, UAV — plus artillery, forward air controllers, and command and control Marines. Outside WTI, MAWTS-1 instructors travel roughly 90 days per year supporting fleet units and authoring the tactical publications for every Marine Corps aviation community. This shoulder patch marks you as part of the elite cadre that writes the book on how Marine aviation fights.
Perfect For: WTI graduates and instructors, MAWTS-1 personnel, Marine aviators across all platforms, and anyone who survived seven weeks in Yuma and lived to wear the patch.
WTI — where Marine aviation’s best go to get better.
