Description
**Officially Licensed USMC VMGR-252 Otis Squadron Sticker — Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
The oldest continuously active squadron in Marine Corps aviation — fueling the fight since 1928. If it flies Marine, Otis has probably gassed it up.
VMGR-252, known as “Otis,” is the oldest continuously active squadron in Marine Corps history, formed on June 1, 1928, in San Diego as Headquarters Detachment 7M. Now based at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, under MAG-14 and 2nd MAW, the squadron flies the KC-130J Super Hercules providing aerial refueling, assault transport, and multi-sensor reconnaissance. VMGR-252 pioneered the first helicopter aerial refueling using a tanker drogue system in 1965, developed standardized aerial refueling procedures for the AV-8A Harrier, and during Desert Storm provided over 10 million pounds of fuel to strike aircraft across 937 combat sorties. The squadron has supported operations from Vietnam through Afghanistan, deployed across Africa, the Balkans, and the Middle East, and in 2022 deployed to Poland in support of NATO operations.
