Official VAQ-138 Yellow Jackets E/A-18 Sticker — Callsign Rampage, and They’ve Earned It
When the Yellow Jackets go to work, the enemy’s radars go dark. The callsign is Rampage for a reason.
Electronic Attack Squadron 138 (VAQ-138) — the ‘Yellow Jackets’ — is an expeditionary EA-18G Growler squadron of the United States Navy based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, with the radio callsign ‘Rampage.’ Established as an operational squadron in February 1976, the Yellow Jackets made their first deployment aboard USS Saratoga to the Mediterranean Sea and went on to complete eight deployments aboard USS Nimitz alone, participating in Central American operations in 1985, the Libya airstrikes in 1986, Operations Desert Storm and Provide Comfort in 1991, and Operation Southern Watch through the 1990s. In April 1999, VAQ-138 deployed to Aviano Air Base, Italy, for Operation Allied Force, where they flew over 500 combat sorties and fired more than 60 AGM-88 HARMs against Serbian targets in Kosovo. The Yellow Jackets deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom throughout the 2000s before transitioning from the EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler in 2009-2010, becoming an expeditionary electronic attack squadron. Since transitioning to the Growler, VAQ-138 has deployed repeatedly to Misawa AFB, Japan, and throughout the Indo-Pacific, participating in exercises including Red Flag, Cope North, Valiant Shield, Pacific Thunder, and Keen Sword, and becoming the first squadron to execute a HARM shoot from their home base at NAS Whidbey Island in 2020. This E/A-18 sticker represents the Growler that the Yellow Jackets now fly into the Pacific and beyond.
Perfect For: VAQ-138 Yellow Jackets aircrew and maintainers past and present, EA-18G Growler community members, NAS Whidbey Island personnel, and anyone who flies under the callsign Rampage.
