Pop-A-Smoke Afghanistan — honoring Marine rotary-wing veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pop-A-Smoke is the Marine helicopter community’s rallying call — the command given to mark a landing zone with colored smoke for inbound helicopters. This Afghanistan patch honors all Marine rotary-wing aircrew who served during Operation Enduring Freedom, from CH-46 Phrog crews to CH-53 heavy lifters, UH-1 Huey and AH-1 Cobra/Viper teams, and MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor crews. Pop-A-Smoke patches represent brotherhood across the entire Marine helicopter community and their shared experience in Afghanistan.
