Olongapo 100 Missions Over Shit River Patch — Embroidered Patch

A Hundred Crossings of Infamy

If you know Olongapo, you know Shit River. And if you crossed it a hundred times, you earned this patch. The Olongapo 100 Missions Over Shit River patch is one of the most legendary pieces of Western Pacific liberty lore — a crude, hilarious, and deeply nostalgic tribute to the notorious waterway that separated Subic Bay Naval Base from the town of Olongapo in the Philippines.

Olongapo was the liberty port of choice for Navy and Marine Corps personnel deployed to the Western Pacific for decades. The town sat just outside the gates of Subic Bay Naval Station, separated by a bridge over a famously polluted waterway that generations of sailors and Marines christened “Shit River.” Crossing that bridge was the first step into a wild liberty experience that became the stuff of legend throughout the fleet. The town’s bars, restaurants, and entertainment district were a rite of passage for WestPac deployers, and stories from Olongapo liberty have been told and retold in wardrooms and enlisted clubs for half a century. Subic Bay was closed in 1992, but the memories — and the smell — endure.

Perfect For:
WestPac deployment veterans, Subic Bay sailors and Marines, Olongapo liberty survivors, Navy and Marine Corps humor collectors, Philippine deployment veterans, and military nostalgia enthusiasts

A hundred crossings. A thousand stories. One unforgettable river.
