Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (VMM-264) “Black Knights” is a United States Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey squadron that serves as the aviation combat element of Marine Expeditionary Units when designated as REIN (Reinforced). This PVC squadron patch represents VMM-264 in its reinforced configuration, augmented with additional aircraft and detachments from attack, heavy-lift, and tiltrotor squadrons to form a complete aviation package capable of supporting the full spectrum of MEU operations.
The Black Knights operate the MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, conducting assault support, aerial delivery, tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel, and a wide range of other missions from the decks of amphibious assault ships. When designated REIN, VMM-264 takes command of the composite aviation squadron that deploys with the MEU, coordinating operations across multiple aircraft types including AH-1Z Vipers, UH-1Y Venoms, CH-53E Super Stallions, and F-35B Lightning IIs or AV-8B Harriers.
