Description
Officially Licensed US Navy HSC-8 Eightballers Squadron Patches — The Swiss Army Knife of the Carrier Air Wing
From vertical replenishment to combat rescue to mine warfare, the Eightballers do it all from the flight deck.
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 8 (HSC-8) — the ‘Eightballers’ — flies the MH-60S Seahawk from Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, as part of Carrier Air Wing 9 aboard USS Abraham Lincoln. The Eightballers are the carrier air wing’s multi-mission helicopter squadron, conducting vertical replenishment to keep the strike group supplied at sea, combat search and rescue to recover downed aircrew, special operations support, anti-surface warfare with Hellfire missiles and crew-served weapons, mine countermeasures with the Airborne Mine Neutralization System, and humanitarian assistance during disaster relief operations. The MH-60S is the Navy’s most versatile rotary-wing platform, and HSC squadrons like the Eightballers are the backbone of the carrier air wing’s helicopter capability. The Eightballers have deployed throughout the Pacific, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific, supporting every major carrier deployment cycle and responding to crises from typhoon relief to combat operations. This squadron patch represents the Eightballers and their ability to shift from logistics to combat to rescue in a single sortie.
Perfect For: HSC-8 Eightballers aircrew and maintainers, MH-60S Seahawk community members, CVW-9 and NAS North Island personnel, and anyone who serves in the helicopter sea combat community.
