Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 74 (HSM-74) “Swamp Foxes” operates the MH-60R Seahawk out of NAS Jacksonville, Florida, and is one of the Navy’s most experienced helicopter maritime strike squadrons. Named after the legendary Revolutionary War guerrilla commander Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion, the squadron carries that same spirit of cunning and relentless pursuit into modern anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and search and rescue operations. The Swamp Foxes routinely deploy as part of carrier strike groups aboard Nimitz-class carriers, providing the helicopter ASW and ASUW capability that keeps the strike group safe from subsurface and surface threats. This red, white, and blue chest patch is a patriotic take on the classic Swamp Fox insignia — a proud display of squadron identity meant for the flight suit.
