VMM-364, the Purple Foxes, fly the MV-22B Osprey out of MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, under MAG-39 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. This patch commemorates the squadron’s Crisis Response – Africa (CR-AF) 23.2 deployment, during which the reinforced Purple Foxes provided the aviation combat element for crisis response operations on the African continent. With a heritage dating back to Vietnam — where the squadron flew nearly 70,000 combat and combat support hours and earned a Presidential Unit Citation — the Purple Foxes have been answering the nation’s call for over six decades. The “REIN” designation means the squadron was reinforced with additional aircraft and capabilities, forming the complete aviation element for rapid-response operations across AFRICOM’s area of responsibility.
