VMFA-115, the Silver Eagles, have been a cornerstone of Marine Corps fighter attack aviation since their commissioning in 1943. Flying F/A-18 Hornets out of MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, with MAG-31 and 2nd MAW, the Silver Eagles have seen combat in every major conflict from WWII and Korea to Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terror. In Korea, the squadron earned a reputation for devastating close air support, and in Vietnam they continued the legacy with precision strikes in some of the war’s most contested airspace.
