MCAF Marble Mountain — USMC Embroidered Patch

Marble Mountain — Vietnam’s Helicopter Hub

MCAF Marble Mountain was the beating heart of Marine helicopter operations in Vietnam — the base where Marine helicopters launched into the most dangerous flying in the world, extracting wounded Marines under fire and inserting troops into hot landing zones. This patch is a piece of Vietnam War history.

Marine Corps Air Facility Marble Mountain, located near Da Nang in South Vietnam, was the primary base for Marine helicopter operations during the Vietnam War. Named for the nearby Marble Mountains, the facility hosted multiple Marine helicopter squadrons that flew thousands of combat missions including troop insertions, medevac, resupply, and close air support. Marble Mountain was attacked multiple times by enemy forces, most notably on October 27, 1965, when a Viet Cong sapper attack destroyed or damaged numerous helicopters. Despite the constant threat, Marine aviators continued to fly from Marble Mountain throughout the war.

Perfect For:
Marble Mountain veterans, Vietnam War Marine helicopter pilots, Marine aviation combat heritage collectors, and Vietnam-era military history enthusiasts.
