USS America CV-66 Sticker — A Carrier Named for a Nation
No ship name carries more weight than America — and CV-66 earned every ounce of it.
USS America (CV-66) was a Kitty Hawk-class supercarrier that served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1996. CV-66 saw extensive combat during the Vietnam War, flew strikes during the 1986 bombing of Libya, and deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Throughout her 31 years of service, America carried the flag — literally and figuratively — to every theater where American interests demanded a carrier presence. After decommissioning, CV-66 was used as a target in a live-fire sinking exercise in 2005, providing invaluable data for future carrier survivability. Her legacy lives on in LHA-6, the amphibious assault ship that now carries the name.
Perfect For: USS America CV-66 crew veterans, Vietnam and Desert Storm carrier sailors, Kitty Hawk-class enthusiasts, and Navy carrier heritage sticker collectors.
