USS Yorktown CVS-10 Sticker — The Fighting Lady
They called her “The Fighting Lady” — and USS Yorktown earned every letter of that title.
USS Yorktown (CV-10/CVS-10), known as “The Fighting Lady,” was an Essex-class aircraft carrier that served with extraordinary distinction during World War II. Commissioned in 1943 and named in honor of the original USS Yorktown lost at Midway, CV-10 fought in virtually every major Pacific campaign from the Mariana Islands to Okinawa. After the war, Yorktown was modernized and reclassified as an anti-submarine warfare carrier (CVS-10), continuing to serve through the early space age — she recovered the crew of Apollo 8. Today, The Fighting Lady is preserved as a museum ship at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Perfect For: USS Yorktown veterans, WWII carrier aviation historians, Patriots Point visitors, Essex-class enthusiasts, and naval heritage collectors.
The Fighting Lady — still inspiring after all these decades.
