US Customs and Border Protection CBP Tucson Air Branch Desert Rescue Patches — Saving Lives in the Sonoran
When the desert tries to kill you, the Tucson Air Branch comes to pull you out.
The CBP Tucson Air Branch is one of Air and Marine Operations’ busiest and most demanding units, covering roughly 262 miles of border in Arizona across nearly 90,000 square miles of some of the most inhospitable terrain in the country. Operating UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters equipped with rescue hoists, the Tucson Air Branch conducts law enforcement, border security, and — crucially — desert rescue operations in the Baboquivari Mountains, Tucson Mountains, and Sonoran Desert. Their hoist-qualified agents and rescue specialists regularly perform extractions from steep, rugged terrain where ground evacuation is impossible, plucking stranded hikers, migrants, and anyone else in distress from mountaintops and desert washes. These are the crews who routinely rescue dozens of individuals per year from heat exhaustion, dehydration, and exposure in temperatures that can swing from deadly highs to dangerous lows. This patch honors their desert rescue mission specifically.
Perfect For: CBP Air and Marine Operations agents, Tucson Air Branch aircrew, UH-60 Black Hawk hoist crews, AMO rescue specialists, BORSTAR personnel, law enforcement aviation professionals, and anyone who has ever operated in the Sonoran Desert.
CBP Tucson Air Branch — rescue is the mission.
