Official US Navy HSM-49 Scorpions Squadron Patches — Red Stinger Inbound
The Scorpion strikes from the smallest deck in the fleet.
HSM-49 “Scorpions” is a U.S. Navy Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron operating the MH-60R Seahawk out of NAS North Island in San Diego, California. With the radio callsign “Red Stinger” and tailcode TX, the Scorpions provide combat-ready pilots, aircrewmen, and aircraft to Pacific Fleet warships in an expeditionary detachment model — deploying aboard Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, search and rescue, and ISR missions. Originally established as HSL-49 in 1990 during the Navy’s transition from the SH-2 Seasprite to the SH-60B Seahawk, the Scorpions have accumulated over 72,000 flight hours and earned the Battle Effectiveness Award for their outstanding operational readiness. This officially licensed squadron patch features the Scorpions’ iconic insignia — a patch that represents the sharp end of the Navy’s maritime strike capability.
Perfect For: HSM-49 Scorpions pilots, aircrew, and maintainers, MH-60R Seahawk community, NAS North Island squadrons, small-deck detachment sailors, Pacific Fleet helicopter crews, and anyone who has operated from the back of a tin can.
