Officially Licensed USMC VMA-212 1958-1962 Squadron Patch — The Lancers in the Skyhawk Era
Before Vietnam, before Phantoms — VMA-212 was slinging Skyhawks across the Pacific.
VMA-212 “Lancers” is a storied Marine Attack Squadron whose history spans World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, and the War on Terror. This patch specifically commemorates the 1958-1962 era, when the Lancers transitioned from the FJ-4 Fury to the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk — the nimble, delta-winged light attack jet that would define Marine close air support for decades. During this period, VMA-212 and VMA-214 became the first Marine squadrons to deploy across the Pacific via air-to-air refueling, and the Lancers responded to the Quemoy-Matsu Crisis with Operation Cannonball. The A-4 Skyhawk would go on to serve the Marine Corps for over 30 years, and VMA-212 was right there at the beginning of that era. This throwback patch captures a pivotal moment in Marine aviation history — the Lancers transitioning into the jet age attack mission.
Perfect For: VMA-212 Lancers veterans, A-4 Skyhawk community, Cold War-era Marine aviation enthusiasts, MCAS Cherry Point and MAG-12/MAG-13 veterans, throwback patch collectors, and anyone who respects the legacy of the Scooter.
