Description
Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-115 Silver Eagles Sticker — Marine Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker
The Silver Eagles — one of the most combat-tested fighter attack squadrons in Marine Corps history.
VMFA-115 was commissioned as VMF-115 on July 1, 1943, at NAS Atlantic City, New Jersey. The squadron flew F4U Corsairs in the Pacific during World War II, then returned to combat in Korea flying F9F Panthers and later the F-8 Crusader during Vietnam — where the Silver Eagles flew more than 18,000 combat sorties from Da Nang and Chu Lai. VMFA-115 transitioned to the F/A-18A+ Hornet and deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. In December 2016, the squadron suffered the loss of Captain Jake “Red Stripe” Frederick in an F/A-18 mishap off the coast of Japan. Today the Silver Eagles continue to carry one of the longest and most distinguished combat records in Marine aviation.
