HMM-265 “Dragons” was a Marine medium helicopter squadron that operated the CH-46E Sea Knight, based at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, under MAG-24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. The Blue Banner variant of the Dragons’ insignia reflected the squadron’s Pacific identity, where they provided assault support and troop transport across the vast distances of the Indo-Pacific theater. HMM-265 later transitioned to the MV-22B Osprey and redesignated as VMM-265.
