The 1st Recruit Training Battalion at Parris Island represents the first step in the journey of becoming a Marine. This officially licensed patch represents the Drill Instructors and staff who begin the transformation process for thousands of recruits each year.
The 1st Recruit Training Battalion at MCRD Parris Island conducts the full 13-week recruit training cycle, transforming civilians into basically trained Marines through a demanding program of physical training, marksmanship, close-order drill, academic instruction, and the legendary Crucible. The battalion’s Drill Instructors are among the most respected Marines in the Corps.
