**Officially Licensed US Navy VF-41/VFA-41 Black Aces Sticker — Fighter Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VF-41 Black Aces — “First to Fight, First to Strike.” They scored the F-14’s first-ever air-to-air kills, then became the first Tomcat squadron to drop bombs in combat. The ace of spades doesn’t bluff.
VF-41, the “Black Aces,” was established on 1 September 1950 at NAS Oceana. The squadron flew the F2H Banshee, F3H Demon, and F-4 Phantom II before transitioning to the F-14A Tomcat. On 19 August 1981, two VF-41 Tomcats shot down two Libyan Su-22 Fitters over the Gulf of Sidra — the first Navy air-to-air kills since Vietnam and the F-14’s first combat engagement. In 1995, VF-41 became the first F-14 squadron to drop laser-guided bombs in combat during Operation Deliberate Force over Bosnia, dropping 24,000 pounds of ordnance in a single week. The squadron earned the prestigious Wade McClusky Award in 1999 as the Navy’s premier attack squadron. VF-41 was redesignated VFA-41 in late 2001, becoming the first fleet squadron to operate the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Black Aces remain active today at NAS Lemoore with CVW-9.
