Description
**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-75 Sunday Punchers Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VA-75 Sunday Punchers — first fleet squadron to fly the A-6 Intruder, last unit to retire it. From Helldivers over Leyte Gulf to leading the first Desert Storm naval strike, the Punchers bookended an era.
VA-75, the “Sunday Punchers,” was established as Bombing Squadron VB-18 on July 20, 1943, and served over half a century before disestablishment in February 1997. During WWII, VB-18 flew SB2C Helldivers in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, contributing to the sinking of the Japanese battleship Musashi. The squadron saw combat in the Korean War, then made history in September 1963 as the first fleet squadron to fly the Grumman A-6A Intruder. VA-75 introduced the Intruder to combat in Vietnam in 1965, flying all-weather strikes against targets south of Hanoi. The Sunday Punchers earned the Wade McClusky Award and became the most decorated Navy squadron of Desert Storm in 1991, delivering over 1.6 million pounds of ordnance in 498 sorties without a single loss. VA-75 was the last Navy unit to fly the A-6 Intruder operationally.
