Attack Squadron 42 (VA-42), the “Green Pawns,” served as the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the A-6 Intruder on the East Coast. VA-42 trained every East Coast A-6 pilot and bombardier/navigator who would fly the Intruder in fleet squadrons.
