NAS Whiting Field is where Naval Aviators learn to fly helicopters and multi-engine aircraft. Located in the pine forests of northwest Florida, Whiting Field has produced more military helicopter pilots than any other installation in the world. This officially licensed patch represents every student and instructor who has served there.

Naval Air Station Whiting Field, located in Milton, Florida, is the primary rotary-wing and multi-engine training base for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The station hosts Training Air Wing Five and its subordinate helicopter and fixed-wing training squadrons, where student Naval Aviators learn to fly the TH-57 Sea Ranger (being replaced by the TH-73A) and the T-6B Texan II. Whiting Field’s two airfields handle more flight operations than nearly any other military installation in the country.
