Officially Licensed US Navy VF-96 Fighting Falcons Patch — Fighter Squadron 96 F-4 Phantom II Embroidered Patch

Fighting Falcons — MiG killers of the Vietnam War.

Fighter Squadron 96 (VF-96) “Fighting Falcons” was one of the most celebrated fighter squadrons in United States Navy history, earning its legendary status during the Vietnam War while flying the F-4 Phantom II. VF-96 produced some of the war’s most famous aerial victories, including those of the Navy’s first Vietnam-era ace crew.

VF-96 deployed to Vietnam aboard aircraft carriers, flying the mighty F-4 Phantom II on combat air patrol, strike escort, and air superiority missions over North Vietnam. The Fighting Falcons faced some of the most intense aerial combat of the war, engaging North Vietnamese MiG-17s, MiG-19s, and MiG-21s in dogfights that tested every aspect of fighter pilot skill and courage. VF-96’s most famous moment came in 1972 when Lieutenant Randy “Duke” Cunningham and his RIO Lieutenant (j.g.) Willie “Irish” Driscoll scored three aerial kills in a single mission, becoming the first American ace crew of the Vietnam War. The Fighting Falcons’ Vietnam combat record cemented VF-96’s place in the pantheon of great Navy fighter squadrons.

This patch honors one of the Navy’s most storied fighter squadrons.

Perfect For: VF-96 Fighting Falcons veterans, F-4 Phantom II enthusiasts, Vietnam War aerial combat historians, and Navy fighter squadron collectors.
