Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 40, the Airwolves, serve as the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the MH-60R Seahawk community, training the pilots and aircrew who will deploy aboard destroyers, cruisers, and carriers to conduct anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare. Every MH-60R pilot in the fleet passes through HSM-40’s training pipeline, learning the tactics, procedures, and systems employment that make the Seahawk one of the most lethal anti-submarine platforms in the world. The Airwolves are the foundation upon which the entire HSM community is built.
